This workshop is a 2-part workshop.
Part one: Drawing and painting the figure and portrait - indoors and outdoors. The first part of the workshop demystifies color when painting figures or portraits under different light. There will be daily demonstrations and plenty of individual instruction.  You will learn to reinforce basic techniques while incorporating design, rhythm and edge quality into your work. We include such topics such as setting up color palettes for various lighting conditions, painting the figure with confidence, capturing gesture and likeness, and four rules for competent painting.

Part two: You can continue to expand and hone these skills with life studies or, you can also spend time developing your existing studies to make derivative work using mixed media where we explore how to expand your techniques, developing freedom and self-expression that will set your work apart.

Cape Cod's pristine coastline and woodland setting of the arts center is an idyllic setting for this workshop. Julie Snyder, a very experienced figure painter and enthusiastic instructor who shares her passion for painting with her students. All levels and all media; water color, acrylic and oils welcome.

River Boat Cruise - Plein Air Painting Workshop

Partake in a painting workshop, an adventure of a lifetime with fellow artists and instructor Julie Snyder. This is a special painting cruise and excursion through France. With an inclusive price you get to travel from Monte Carlo and the French Riviera, cruise the Rhone Valley on an Avalon River Cruise, then explore Paris with all food, accommodation and travel to and from the workshop sites. We also visit Arles, the capital of the Provence and Vincent Van Gogh country as well as Giverny,  Claude Monet's house and gardens. Los Angeles Workshops
 
Ongoing uninstructed workshops.
Following a long tradition of working side-by-side with other artists, these workshops are anyone who wants to paint, sculpt or draw costumed or figure models. 
The door is open. Just show up with your gear to paint or draw. Easels, benches and coffee provided. Single long pose. These are 3-hour poses with strong narrative themes.
